HORESTA is, in collaboration with our international sister organisations and business partners, involved in different projects. Among these projects are the development and the “export” of our classification system, the concept of the Green Key, and the sharing of our knowledge and experiences concerning smoking restriction measures.
Nordisk Besögsnäring
Together with sister organisations from Sweden, Norway, Finland and Iceland, HORESTA is a part of Nordisk Besögsnäring. Besides sharing knowledge and information, the countries coordinate several activities, seminars and political conferences.
Another primary element in the collaboration is to share, debate and coordinate the interests of the Nordic organisations in relation to EU legislation and to the European umbrella body HOTREC.
HOTREC
HOTREC is the European umbrella body for the hotel and restaurant industry and its headquarters is located in Brussels.
The impact of EU legislation on national policies is continuously growing; this affecting European surveillance and lobbyism within the industry. It is therefore important to us that the voice of the hotel, restaurant and tourism sector is heard - also in the European context. Our cooperation with HOTREC is therefore high priority for HORESTA.
HOTREC prepares a report about the main EU developments of interest to the hotel, restaurant and café sector every three months. Download the reports as pdf here:

FEE
HORESTA is in close collaboration with the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE). FEE is a global organisation working with environmental education and communication. FEE has members in more than 60 countries including Denmark with the Danish Outdoor Council (Friluftsrådet) as member and with HORESTA as an associate member.
FEE organise Blue Flag, Eco-Schools, Young Reporters for the Environment, Learning about Forests, and Green Key.
Green Key
Green Key is in Danish called Den Grønne Nøgle. The Green Key is a worldwide available eco-label awarded to environmentally oriented leisure organizations, such as hotels, youth hostels, conference- and holiday centres, campsites, holiday-houses and leisure facilities.
Green Key was founded in Denmark in 1994 and has for a long time been owned by HORESTA. Green Key was in 2002 adopted by FEE and has so far been implemented in 17 countries. HORESTA is a part of Green Key’s international steering committee and also houses the Danish secretariat.
